Michelle Spillers MS, CCC-SLP
Michelle joined the DTA staff in 2008. She is a bilingual speech therapist who provides therapy in English and Spanish. In addition she has volunteered in the Durham area to informally interpret for deaf individuals using sign language. She has worked in a variety of pediatric settings including clinic, public school system and preschool settings. “Watching children learn to communicate with their families and understand that
their words have power is so rewarding. I feel that my experience learning new languages has given me a unique understanding of what it is like for an individual to struggle making their needs known to others. It makes me work that much harder to understand them and find a way for them to communicate.”
