The purpose of a treatment intensive is to provide the opportunity to work in a concentrated manner with a client and family to maximize potential change over a short period of time.
An intensive is customized to the individual client, and usually occurs over a 1 or 2 week period. A client can be seen 3-5 days per week, 1-2 hours per day. (Note: some insurance companies will not reimburse more than one hour of therapy per day).
A treatment intensive can occur with an occupational therapist and/or speech/language therapist. Upon request, specialized treatment modalities can be incorporated such as:
Advanced Auditory Techniques including, Auditory Integration Training (AIT), Therapeutic Listening™, or bone conducted listening. Craniosacral Therapy or Cranial Electrical Stimulation (CES) can also be incorporated in to treatment intensives.
